what is a Christian synth-pop artist doing on here?

For people not in the know - Ronny Martin has been the Christ figure of analog synth-pop since the early nineties.  Joy Electric is ronny’s “solo” project and is mainly composed of layers of moog mono synths and vocal tracks.

Back in 2008, I had the opportunity to check out the Fall Autobahn Electronic music festival that was held somewhere in Ohio. I believe all of the artists were out of the closet practicing Christians… (i mean)The venue was owned by the local church.

Sooo, how was the christian electronic music fest? it was queer. in a very good way.

After listening to ronny’s music, you can hear the influence of the Human League, Gary Numan, and Kraftwerk (his annual fest held in Ohio is titled Autobahn).

Im not sure how the relationship between FREEZEPOP and JE started. At any rate, freezepop would sometimes play at the autobahn fest. After Guitar hero exploded the Autobahn’s became a Freezepop concert with 10 opening analog synth acts, including JE. I cant hate on the kids screaming FREEZEPOP FOREVER. they were getting a dose of the analog treatment and having a little bit of Christ slipped into their lattes…hey, i secretly was waiting to hear SHARK ATTACK all night

Yeahhh… I haven’t heard any word on another Autobahn Festival for a long time now. 2010 was last festival to my knowledge. It figures, now all the analog/synth heads have to wait for yet ANOTHER resurrection.

Dont expect too much of JE’s stuff sounding this…. hard? danceable? dark? but if you can handle his voice and have the time to listen to the extensive discography that is all JE, you will find something special to you.

DWARF MOUNTAIN ALPHABET, Joy E’s first independent album should be out sometime this year, 2012.
